Diners and Home Cooking
It occurs to me that there are thousands and thousands of diners, complete with home cooking, and travel plazas all over this country. It is almost hard to believe that there are any economic struggles when I see these places, full of cars, full of shoppers, full of "critical" travel items.

Everytime I think about your trip "up the river", I hear a young Martin Sheen's narration over the top of the words I'm reading. Tell Col. Kurtz I said "hi" when you see him. Tell him I'll be home for supper.
I bet you could write a travelogue about nothing but diner food. I imagine it changes gradually but significantly as you move from region to region.
